You then have the options for students to "Vote on the Responses" from the students.

Create a quiz using Socrative:

  1. Give your quiz a title so you can find it (students won't see this)
  2. Enable sharing- you can share the quiz by giving other teachers the "SOC Number"
  3. Add a multiple choice question:
    • Enter the question and answer choices
    • Click on checkbox to select right answers- you can choose more than one. If no correct answers are chosen, the student is thanked for their response after answering.
  4. Add a short answer question.
  5. You can reorder or delete the questions using the controls on the upper-right part of the question.
  6. Click 'Save' when you are done editing.

You can come back and edit the quiz at any time.

In the My Profile section, you can make changes to your email, password and room number. You can also select the Training Tour, which you viewed the first time you logged in.

To make changes, just click on the relevant button and follow the instructions. If you need additional help, take a look at the Tip inside each of the categories below.

You can import a Socrative quiz using:

  1. Import a shared quiz using a "SOC Number" you have been given from another teacher
  2. Import a quiz you prepare using our Excel template

If another teacher has shared a quiz, you can import it using it's unique "SOC Number"

Enter the SOC # in the field below and the quiz will be added to your account.

Here you can change your account email address. Simply enter your password, and then enter your new email address in both the Enter Email and Retype Email fields. We ask for it twice to make sure there are no typing mistakes.

Here you can update your password. Simply enter your current password, and then enter your new password in the New Password and Retype Password fields. We ask for it twice to make sure there are no typing mistakes.

Here you can update your room number, which can consist of numbers and letters.

Socrative is for interaction. You ask the questions. Your student responds with any laptop/handheld device. Try it for yourself by playing teacher on this device, and Student on a second computer/smartphone.


Instructions:

- Student: Open a second computer/smartphone and go to m.socrative.com

- Student: Join the Room ###.

- Teacher: ask a question out loud and press "Yes / No" button

- Student: Respond Yes or No

- Teacher: See the results on your screen


You can run the Teacher Clicker from an Android phone, Apple device, or any computer / smartphone by going to t.socrative.com.

Exit Tickets is a great way to check student understanding at the end of class. It asks the students a series of quick questions, and sends the results in a report

Here's what Exit Tickets Asks:

1. Name

2. How well did you understand the material (multiple choice)?

3. What did you learn today (free response)?

4. Please solve the problem on the board (free response)?


You'll see when the students have completed the Exit Ticket, and when they're done, hit "Send Report" and the results show up in your email. If you want to create an "Exit Ticket" with different questions, just go to Quick Quiz and follow the instructions on how to make your own set of question.

The rockets will only advance when students get the answers right. This means the teams can only complete the race across the screen if they get everything right. When all the students have answered the questions, click "Send Report". Then, check your email to see the results.

Space Race is fun, interactive game where individuals or teams compete by answering questions. When they get a question right, the rocket moves forward. When they get a question wrong, the rocket stands still.

Here's how to create a Space Race game:

1. Preload a series of multiple choice questions in the "Quick Quizzes" tool.

2. Open Space race, and select the Quiz you want students to use for the game from the drop down.

3. Enter the number of teams, and tell students which color team the should choose. Students will choose the appropriate team color on their screen.

4. Once the right amount of users have joined each of the teams, hit "Start Space Race". The first team to get all the multiple choice questions right wins.

5. When all the teams have finished, hit "Send Report", and the results will show up in your email

Creating a new Quiz:


You have 2 options: creating a quiz in Socrative or importing a quiz using an excel template.


To Create a Quiz in Socrative:


1. Click "Create a Quiz"

2. Name the quiz.

3. Select the type of question you want: Multiple Choice or Short Answer.

4. For multiple choice, write the question, input up to 5 answers and select from 0 to 5 correct answers.

5. For short answer: simply write the question.

6. Select another question type, complete the question and repeat.

7. When you're done adding questions, hit "Save".


To Import a Quiz:


1. Return to the "Main Screen"

2. Select "Start Quiz"

3. Choose your quiz from the dropdown menu

4. Press "Start Quiz"


To Run a Quiz:


1. Return to the "Main Screen"

2. Select "Start Quiz"

3. Choose your Quiz from the dropdown menu

4. Press "Start Quiz"

Running a Quiz:

2. Teacher Paced Quiz - teachers control the speed one question at a time. Student answers are visible while the question is being answered.


To Start the Quiz:

2. Choose "Student Paced Quiz" or "Teacher Paced Quiz".

Ready to go! Quick Overview.

Teachers and students can use Socrative on any device with a web browser (tablets, smartphones, laptops, iPod Touches, etc.).

Teachers login at t.socrative.com by entering their email and password.

Students login at m.socrative.com by entering the "virtual room number" provided by the teacher. Students will then see "Waiting for teacher to start an activity...".

Teachers initiate an activity by selecting it on their main screen (e.g. Multiple Choice, T/F, Quick Quiz).

Students respond on their devices.

Students' results are visible on the Teacher's screen or sent in an email.

Step One: Tell Students To Join Your Session

Once you've logged into t.socrative.com

Tell your class to go to m.socrative.com

Next, tell them to join Room Number XXXX to participate in your session.

This is your "Virtual Room". You don't need to memorize it. It'll always be on your home screen.

Step Two: Initiate an Activity

When the students respond to the questions, you'll see the results on your screen.

You're ready to go!
